Seniors

Dos

  • Seniors need to take good general care of their health and well being. Periodical and scheduled medical checks will help in keeping a track of these.
  • Seniors with existing medical conditions need to be extra careful and supervise their existing conditions with extra diligence. Any change in these should immediately be brought to the notice of the medical advisor or consulting doctor.
  • Seniors should pay more attention to and take more efforts on boosting their immunity through Yoga, Pranayam etc. and taking supportive vitamins regularly.
  • As and when the Swine Flu vaccine is available, it would be prudent to get vaccinated immediately.
  • All other preventive and hygiene precautions apply more particularly to seniors. Personal hygiene, cleanliness after visiting public places, a good rest after hectic work routines, avoidance of mental and physical strain & stress are ‘must dos’ for seniors.
  • Seniors should also avoid mingling with or being around people who are sick or unwell.
  • In case seniors suspect or show signs of being affected by Swine Flu, it would be advisable to consult the doctor immediately, get the tests done and start on the Swine Flu medication under medical supervision.
  • Seniors should also play a more pro-active role in guiding the younger people in creating awareness on how the Swine Flu can be tackled on personal as well as on social levels. Their experience can benefit the society in more ways than one.

Don’ts

  • Seniors should not hide their pre-existing medical conditions from doctors in case they are showing signs of Swine Flu and go in for a checkup.
  • Seniors should not indulge in self-medication.
  • Seniors with pre-existing medical conditions should not indulge in treatments without medical advice and without knowing the effects of Swine Flu medication combined with their regular medication for pre-existing conditions.
  • Seniors should not hesitate or delay in calling for medical help in case they come down with symptoms of Swine Flu.
